Construction Continues On THS Football Facility Building
Construction on the new Tolsia Football Facility Building is almost back on schedule according to Assistant Superintendent Mr. Don Davis. There have been several delays on the construction due to the winter weather but now the steel structures are being installed and should be done this week. The block layers should also be here this week to start laying the block on the sides of the building. After the blocks are laid, the next step to completing this building will be the roofing. "This building looks bigger than I thought it was going to be," says Mr. Mayo.

Warm Weather Just a Tease
As the week comes to an end so does the warm weather. It was a nice break from winter to see warm weather finally flowing in. This week everyone got to catch up on some outside chores but it seems we may have jumped the gun as cool weather is creeping back into the forecast. Most people are hoping that we won't have another arctic blast like we have seen in the past month. The forecast for next week is supposed to be in the low 40s, but according to the groundhog we will have an early spring since he didn't see his shadow this year.

Weather Causes Closings, Delays
Students in Wayne County have had many closings and delays due to the weather this winter. Many of those days were due to the amount of snow and ice built up on the roads throughout the community. All of the makeup days that were built into the calendar will have to be used, and summer break will start a day late with June 8th being the final ISE day. As the weather proceeds to get warmer, most likely, we will have fewer days of being out of school, and can start focusing on more important, upcoming events that come up along the way.

Aaron Pennington Performs in Hairspray
On March 25 at 8 p.m. and March 26 at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., Aaron Pennington will be performing in the musical Hairspray at the Paramount Arts Center . Tickets will be 10 dollars for adults and 8 dollars for kids. Aaron plays the part of Brad, which is one of the nicest kids in town on the Corny Collins Show. Aaron is really excited about performing. He said Hairspray was the first Broadway show he saw, and just being a part of the show is amazing. Aaron goes to rehearsal evenings at 6 p.m. and leaves at 9 p.m., but rehearsal will be extending to 5 p.m. - 10 p.m. Rehearsal is hard, but Aaron loves it. No matter how Aaron feels, going to rehearsal always peps him up. Aaron’s favorite song in Hairspray is “You Can’t Stop the Beat,” but his favorite scene is the dodge ball scene. The show will be having an orchestra playing each of the musical numbers.
Hairspray is not the only play Aaron has performed in. On Saturday February 12, Aaron performed a play called Blind Date. His character in Blind Date was Felix Robertson (the lead male role), a huge dork who is in love with a girl named Sarah Nancy. Aaron said he enjoyed this play, and made his voice for Felix sound like the voice of Neil from Family Guy. Aaron has a great love for acting. ” Theatre is like life: it’s constantly changing. No matter how many times you do a performance, there’s always going to be something different and at the end of it all, all you have is the memory of the experience that everyone’s loved so much, and in that way just simply the experience is my favorite.”

Prom Fashion
This year for prom, there are many different types of dresses girls will be wearing. For this year’s prom, black, white, blue, red, and purple are the most popular colors. Many of the girls are wearing long strapless dresses with lots of jewels . Also some of the teenagers are wearing dresses with fitted tops that poof out at the bottom, like a Cinderella dress. Others are wearing short dresses that show off their legs. This year’s prom will be a night to remember! Everyone have a great time!

The girls record is 15 wins and 6 losses so far." She said the team is excited for the upcoming sectionals tournament.
