Greek Festival 2011

On Friday, September 23, 2011, students from Tolsia High School attended the 29th Annual Greek Festival hosted by the St. George Greek Orthodox Church. Tolsia students attended the event to learn about Greek culture and enjoy Greek foods.  Multiple tents set up around the church and in its basement introduced visitors to things such as Greek dance and served various Greek foods from gyros to baklava. Students toured the church and church leaders spoke to the students about the diversity of their religion and complexity of the church.

Art Club Information

-Linda Bowen

The Art Club is starting sign-ups next week. There is a $7.00 club fee. Club members will get to go to museums and other art-related trips. There are usually 100 or more students every year and Ms. Rickman, the sponsor, says "We have lots of fun." Everyone is welcome to join. This club will introduce different kinds of art.

The Art club and Bible club are starting a charity called Christmas Shoe box. Everyone can help--just bring in a shoe box with items such as:

- TOYS (No warlike toys, guns, soldiers, etc.)

- TOOTHBRUSH

- TOOTHPASTE

- SOCKS

You can also add anything you think a child would need or think they would like to have. Do not tape up the box, because we have to go through it to see if there is anything inappropriate in them.

Rebel Runners Cross Country Team

By: Tyler Cavins & Brianna Likens

Tolsia High School now has a new cross country team thanks to the coaching of Ms. Emily Bailey.  Ms. Bailey said that since she ran in college, she felt the need to step up when students had the desire to run. There are currently five members:  Taylor Spry, Katelyn Spaulding, Rebecca Perry, Ricky Dean, and Austin Fraley.  Practices consist of running various distances, from going up Lost Creek to doing different stretches and strides in order to warm up. Although it is not official, there are plans to have a track team in the spring. The team hopes to be successful, so come out to a race and support our Rebel Cross Country Runners!
